I got my version welded and painted, but I need to pick up some 1/2” longer screws to install it. I’m thinking I might pick up a second of those folding cup holders so I can mount one on each side. I tested my regular tumbler and it clears, but a jumbo super-sized drink might interfere with reverse if the cup holder is on this side.

For everyone with young kids, I have found the cupholder solution.

Normally when my daughter isn't in the truck I set her booster seat down on the trans tunnel, a few days ago I realized it has cupholders and armrests. Definitely not the greatest thing ever but it keeps me from having to chase my bottle of water into the passenger floorboard on the highway.

The ratio of base diameter to container height shall be no less than 3:1 in your case :p

Cup holder shall be constructed of aircraft grade aluminum adhered to a 1/2” steel bottom plate

Below the steel plate shall be a combination of magnets and rubber to allow adherence to a range of surfaces without movement.

Manufacturing of such devices must be completed in the USA, using USA mined raw materials, using USA workforce talent. Repackaging of foreign material relabeled as “Made in the USA” is strictly forbidden.

Manufacturing plants must be powered only using the finest of American sourced fossil fuels to include coal, gas, and cow ****.

On sale at every redneck shopping center.....pick-n-pulls, auto salvage, junkyards!!

I could absolutley get those made at my place of work, but I don't think any redneck at the shopping center would want to pay what my employer would charge! LOL

So this seems to be working in the meantime. Neck pillow on the floor. Thank goodness I didn't spill my blizzard. It's 94°f out today.

I absolutley expected to see a full roll of duct tape sitting on the floor with a cup in it! LOL

@ROCK HARVEY That turned out NICE!

but the engine, transmission, and transfer case went into my Bronco which had the cup holders molded into the center console.
Of course I forgot to mention that the Bronco seats and console are now in my Blue Truck so it has cup holders! :Thumbs Up

Nor to try to make you jealous or anything, but it got up to 81* here today.
I have done that before.
That also works great for holding oil and fuel filters for pre-filling.

I just want to say hats off to you oil burners for such a great showing of cup holders today. From @Nero s rugged git er dun blizzard saver to @Rdnck84_03 s stolen kids property to @ROCK HARVEY really going The distance and making it classy! It won't be long until @hacked89 buys the forum and changes the name to cup holders.net. I feel a oil burners official hand sign coming on! Even if you're truck won't start and you gotta thumb it to the next exit....... your beverage will be secured and upright.

I agree wholeheartedly..!!! That is some great creativity..!!

I knew someone here would give me some inspiration...

I gotta put that on my list of 'stuff ta do'....

I can see a phone holster and other possibilities attached to that...!!

Spare 12V power outlet...switch panel....whatever you might need...

Great Job !!!

Colder weather, yes...summer...not so much...

I have learned from experience...

When I used to drive a '69 Ford Econoline...I made a mess on the engine cover...and I also learned not to leave my eyeglasses in the junk compartment...the dogs got aholt of 'em and chewed them up...

I kept those glasses just to remind me of those dogs...they were the handsomest dogs I had ever had...and nothing in a cupholder was safe from them...

Is it OK to use something thicker than 1/2"...?

I think that I have some 3/4" somewhere...not sure of the grade without spark testing...but it is at least A-36...

I have a chunk of rubber that is at least 1" thick that is left over from replacing a cutting edge on a snowplow...I was using it for a kneeling pad...but it turns my pants black and a little of it cut off won't matter...unless I go into full production with a view to commercial purposes...

On the aluminum...slim pickens there...I have some scrap cast aluminum from transmission cases and bad valve bodies...but I need a forge and crucible to get it useable...I can throw together a sand mold...

Anyone got a forge laying around that they want to sell and ship...?

I have propane bottles and a regulator...

Oh, yeah...magnets...got plenty of them from oil filters and tool holders... I had to move some around on the lid of a tool cart to close the lid and they are strong enough to make you have to apply a concerted effort to budge...

That outta work...gathering materials...and thinking it through...

Were the dogs handsome because you couldn't see them clearly without glasses?
