Good afternoon, colleagues. I bought this truck. It had been abandoned for years and the last time it was started was 3 years ago.The injection pump was damaged, so I had to buy a rebuilt one that was bench-tested. The injectors were also serviced.I was finally able to install the entire system, but a lot of smoke is coming out of the engine. I thought it was residual diesel in the exhaust, but after an hour I turned it on, the abundant smoke continues.
Another issue I'm seeing is that the engine only turns on when I put the glow plugs on. If after being on I turn it off for 1 minute, it takes a while to turn on if I don't turn the glow plugs back on.

If you pulled the entire injection pump housing that contains the gear, you could have put it back on 180* out of time. These engines will run 180* out, but will run poorly and smoke like that......I've done it twice...... kinda feel stupid after the second time.

Is it smoking like that out the tail pipe, or just in the engine compartment?
