Received the Summit Brass/Copper Radiator. It is exactly as advertised, Brass/Copper. Haven't installed, but looks to be a good replacement.
Sorry for the upside down first pic:)

Looks great! Hopefully it functions just as well. Will definitely outlast a plastic/aluminum radiator.

How many cores does that unit have?

Has anyone noticed a difference in cooling performance between copper and aluminum radiators of same/similar specs otherwise? I have been running the Spectra CU1165NR from Napa, but have gone through them faster than I’d like to admit. They do have a lifetime warranty, and I keep a spare around so that I can minimize potential downtime. But they are kinda fragile, and with an intercooler in front of them, with the low gearing that my truck has (5.13s), in high ambient temperatures my water temp can get marginal at interstate speeds with a trailer (AC on of course, so basically maximum load on my cooling system lol) Not too hot, but big hills can get me up there… thank God for @03wr250f and his badass fan systems. I am guessing my truck would be impossible to keep cool without the 9 blade and 6.4 clutch. Hands down the best upgrade for these trucks IMO, I’d rate it above a turbo overall.

@JPM4, I highly recommend the Workhorse Customs products, they are worth every penny.

Do yourself a favor before installing it. Replace that crappy plastic thing inside the drain hole before you install it. I have one of those in mine that I always forget about until I want to drain it. They are miserable to use. Unless you have it just barely opened, it will squirt coolant all over.
What do you replace it with? Recently did a coolant change and using the plastic plug is pretty slow to drain unless it squirts everywhere like you said

I don't know about these, but on factory radiators, I'm pretty sure that it's threaded to 1/4"NPT. You can buy a 1/4" NPT plug with a drain valve on it so it looks like a factory drain. Some people put them in the sides of the block for easier coolant draining which is a very good idea. With one of those factory style drains on the radiator, I like to slip a piece of 3/8" rubber fuel line over it so that I can drain the coolant into a container without making a big mess. You just have to be careful to not knock it off when you're turning that valve.

Summit Racing is just 60 miles north of me. If I bought one
be good to pick it up there and open the box to check for damage.
VS Fedex delivering it to the house, and banging around in their delivery trucks. Every time they deliver here, it`s just a pile of box`s in their vans, piled on the floor. Then the guy is tossing box`s
aside trying to find mine.
USP at least has shelves in their trucks, and more organized.

Always use Distilled water with your coolant, you radiator will last longer.

I bought an 82 Datsun KC 5-spd with the Nissan Diesel engine.
Drove it 30 years and 400+K miles. Always used Distilled water.
Never had a problem with the radiator, and removing the Cap, the
tubes all looked pretty clean and not plugged up....and never an
over heating problem.

Lots of talk about the Aluminum Radiators with plastic Tanks not being good.
When I bought the 86 10 yrs ago, that is what was in it, and still is. So far have not had a problem with it. Put 167K miles on her.

Just my take on my experience.

KansasIDI, Summit doesn't specify core number. I have no idea how to visually verify, but this thing is heavy. Does anyone know how to verify the number of cores?

Take a picture in the fill port on the top tank with no fluid. Number of tubes front to back is number of cores

Got the Summit Radiator installed. It's almost identical to the original OEM. Summit is 3 core vs OEM 4 core, but all else seems to be the same. Even at 3 core, a quick 20 mile trip down the road, it seems to run cooler. The original did have some clogged passages, so it was showing it's 35 year age. It did require a slight tap under the overflow pipe, but the OEM looked like it also had the same. Overall, expensive, but I'm happy with the copper/brass close to OEM. Running Delo ELC, hopefully it will last longer than I'll be around.

I proud to say, Iam now part of the Summit Racing Copper/Brass
Radiator Club.
Thursday we were in Fernley Nv. at the Veterans Cemetery for a
funeral of one of our Church members. When we left, headed back the other way through Reno and stopped at Summit Racing and
purchased the Copper/Brass Radiator. They didn`t have them in stock, so it`s being shipped. And of course it being a Big Boy`s toy store, picked up a few other things.
Radiator should be here this coming week, and free shipping.
I don`t need a Radiator, just like to have it on hand for the just in case event.

Summit shows only 2 in stock now.... times ticking people lol
I'd be tempted myself if I hadn't just spent $460 on Rock Auto for parts for this truck and I didn't have a couple more radiators sitting in my garage and one in a parts cab, all ready to go.

The Summit radiator arrived yesterday late afternoon.
Didn`t hear the Fedex truck drive in (gravel driveway)
my Wife said "OH there is Fedex" and the guy was shutting
the door and driving off.
Box was a little beat up, 3 of the big staples were ripped open,
there was one plastic strap going around the middle of the long end of the box. Cut strap, pulled loose the one staple and opened the box. They had those Foam filled bags on each corner to support it. One was off and down in the side of the box.
Then noticed on the other end of the box, there were 7 Staples and all were pulled loose. So if the plastic strap wasn`t there, the Radiator would have fallen out of the box.
Maybe Fedex put the strap around the box at one of the shipping points?
When I pulled it back from the Front Porch wall, it was banging back and forth in the box. Hope it isn`t damaged.
I only bought it to have for a spare If I ever need one.

The last few time Fedex has delivered, some times in a white van, other time in a Fedex Van, and they don`t speak English.
Also all the packages, small and Large, and all in a pile on the floor.
