With all the bad luck I've had with my Delphi injectors, I just bought seven new not rebuilt Stanadyne injectors off ebay. I still have my original stanadynes and a local shop here has access to some original stanadyne parts, so I'll have him rebuild one of my old ones for me. I'm not sure what the differences are internally between the two brands but I hope these new ones provide better service and driveability than the Delphis.

Make sure that rebuilt injector is located in an easy to get at cylinder... Just incase there is issues down the line. A new set of Stanadynes is a great find these days. Even if you only found 7...

Well when you consider that Delphi is another name for CAV which is another name for Lucas, yes, folks, Lucas, the Prince of darkness it's a miracle the things ever work at all.
The thing is, you cant hardly get a reputable shop to rebuild stanadyne injectors anymore. Most have pitched all the shims to fool with the things because it costs more to rebuild one properly than it does to replace it with a brand new injector

So... If we could "find some rebuild "parts we might be able to do something for our selves. Thats kinda what this fourm is all about. People with trucks that are no longer supported by anyone. This is why I started the timing meter rental program. No shop will offer to time our engines.

if you want to buy them by the 5 cazillion, there are plenty of places in china advertizing that they will sell you shims and nozzles other than that, good luck.

The shop here says he has access to bosch and stanadyne rebuild parts for our old injectors but I've been told on here that those parts are no longer available. I think its possible he has a box full of old stock hes trying to sell me for a fortune but either way, it wont cost much to get one injector rebuilt.
I need to rent one of Garys meters and set my timing where it belongs also.

Basically the injector body condition doesn't mean crappola, it's the nozzle and the pintle needle that goes in the nozzle bore. That pintle needle has VERY VERY close tolerance's to the bore in the nozzle and alignment to the nozzle seat. The IP pressure has to overcome the spring pressure setting (1850 usually), if the fuel leaks back up past the pintle needle or seat, it won't fully open like it should. A fuel injection to each cylinder happens in .0023 of a second at 1800 RPM, that's pretty damn quick considering each cylinder fires every two seconds.

To rebuild and test an injector, takes NO LESS than about 1/2 hour, in more than a Hospital clean enviroment.

Now back to my Hazelnut flavored coffee, it's getting cold.

When I was in his shop a few weeks back, I asked about getting my stanadynes rebuilt. He called me back a couple hours later and said he could still get the internal parts for the stanadyne, either from stanadyne themselve or Bosch. The price was somewhere around 45 bucks for the parts.
From what I've been told on here, we cant get those parts anymore. He must have some leftovers and the total to rebuild my old complete set would have beeen in the 500 dollar range, too much money for me to want to spend.
I bought the seven new stanadynes off ebay for 145, so I figured I wouldnt mind spending the 60 some odd bucks to get one of my old ones rebuilt by this local shop, as long as he does indeed put new parts in it.

Not quite sure but seems like the few trucks that I've seen with the originals still in them, run great. Mine ran great with the originals but with the Delphis it seems like I'm having constant problems with them and the truck idles like crap 90% of the time.

I bought new stanadynes from midwest diesel service several years ago and if I remember they were only about 16 dollars each. I bought the kit which comes with the caps, tees, hose, etc. I bought the G codes, which is the spec for the idi, most people for some reason want the BB.
