I just got back from a camping/riding trip. We were on a dry river bed. It was pretty fun. I had a little excitement when I got there. I wasn't paying attention and sunk the rear tires of the truck in the sand while pulling underneath this bridge. I couldn't rock it out so I put it in 4X4. Yes! That will do the trick. Wrong! By the time that I stopped trying, I'm sure that the axle was sitting on the sand. We decided that I should unhook the trailer. After that, while I was going back around the front of the truck, I noticed that the passenger's side hub was unlocked. I know that I turned both of them. It was almost dark and I didn't pay much attention when I did it. I must have been driving around with one hub locked in for some reason. After I locked that one back in, I put her in 1st gear, 4 hi. When I stalled the engine, I said "yep. I've got traction now!" I put her in 2nd gear, 4 lo, put the hammer down as I let out on the clutch and she walked right out. I rehooked to the trailer and we continued without any more drama.

What a view! That does not get old.
Photos never do quite capture it, but I did my best.

The cloud ceiling was maybe 150 feet up, so it wasn't quite as clear as it could have been. I tried to time the photos for whenever there was a clearing in the cloud but by late afternoon the fog was closing in. In another few weeks the roads may not even be passible, depending on how soon the snow hits. And all I can think about is going back there...

Not much today after work, but I did get the bed pulled off, to get ready for the flatbed. Planning on a new rear fuel tank and gooseneck hitch while it's off then mount the flatbed. The Zf5 is sitting under the truck right now but not in yet. I had to cut the exhaust and trim the firewall a little bit. Should slide right in when I get around to it over the weekend. I am hoping to get this all wrapped up by the end of the month. I don't want to be crawling under the truck in the snow.

Well you'd better hurry. There's supposed to be a big snow storm north and west of me this weekend and into next week. You'll be getting it soon enough.

Yup, it always seems to sneak up on me. I will be happy if I just get the mechanical and structural things done before then. The cosmetics might have to hold off. I am way behind schedule as it is.We shall see
