ok, i have a IP that has a weird issue.

it leaks fuel out of the top bolt for the high idle solenoid.

i must use this pump for now before i buy a new super moose.

would you use thread sealant on this top bolt?

i know the IP is damaged, but this is its only issue.

and my injectors need to be taken apart.

what would you do?

That should have just been a mount bolt that doesn't go thru into the inner housing, if I'm thinking of the right one. I'd rather chuck a washer/oring under that bolt before fiddling with getting goo all over

when i replaced this IP with my bull moose, i took the bolts out of the bracket, and it was wayyy too long.
may have cracked the aluminum also
a rubber washer isnt a bad idea.

My experience with this is just buy new ones. I have taken them apart, ultrasonic bath, reassemble... they just seem to act up again.

Hopefully you can pop test them - if they pop test then leave them. If they fail just screw a new one in.

Pensacola still shows NEW Delphi's for $280 for eight.

I have a pretty simple diy pop tester from a porta power in my sig.

A simple ultrasonic bath may help loosen some carbon that's affecting the spray pattern, but that's about it. They really need to be put under a pop tester for pop pressure , drip checking, and pattern observation.

I've got some special washers with rubber seal on one side, I'll throw a couple in the tach box, thinking 1/4" bolts.

Edit: Your talking about the IP solenoid cover on top, right? Very little pressure under there, maybe 1-2 lbs.

Spray pattern isn't important with an IDI since the combustion begins in the precup, not directly above the piston. The important matters are getting the fuel in the precup and when.

Spray pattern isn't as critical as a side shooting direct injector, but Ford and Stanadyne both say that the fuel has to be atomized well and shot within a ~45* cone. An injector that sprays drops out sideways won't work well for our IDIs...

Spray pattern is very important. The higher the pop pressure the finer the spray droplets will be or the atomization is finer. Some years ago a self made designer of newly modified injectors ground off the pintle tips and sold the injectors as the best thing ever. Those that bought that crap found out just how much crap they bought. They were leakers and *******. Basically no atomization at all. Just a dog like squirting on a bush look. Nuff said bout that.

this is a low pressure leak.
its leaking out of the boss of the bolt for the high idle solenoid bracket.
one of the weirdest spots for it to leak.

Just make sure when you put the cover back on, gotta be like the pic, or ya might have a run away.

Impossible to catch sometimes. :D

Found one, coming at cha. Don't fix yours. If you energize the FSS, easy to put on correctly. Jumper to FSS connection, Neg batt to body.
