Crapola....until I get through the autoRx and rinse cycles, then it will be Amsoil 15w-40 diesel and marine. It was Valvoline blue last time and now its Warren Lubriguard....Not sure which if either I recommend.

Oh goody, another oil thread.

This is what I am currently using in two of the trucks :

http://www.deere.com/en_US/parts/partsinfo/oils_and_lubricants/oil_plus50_15w40.html

Due to the "set more than used" status of the other five trucks, they are currently getting Walmart SuperTech CI-4 15W-40 plus 1/2-gallon LUCAS.

This will be used when the John Deere is not available :

The Super-D 3, center of the three pictured.

Or this :

Or this if I could get it without jumping through hoops :

I hear a lot of positive about the Schaeffer products, but have no personal experience with them.

Never tried AMSOIL either.

This is what my family uses.
http://www.archeroil.com/productslist.asp?type=Diesel Engine Oils

We use the Arpeco™ 15W-40 Extra Life Heavy Duty Engine Oil its second from the bottom of the page.
Been using that stuff for years and its good clean awesome oil. Grandpa used it, dad uses it, and I use it. We got over 650k out of grandpas truck using this stuff, without so much as a tick. So they must be doing something right. Only time I use anything else is when Im running a cleaner like AutoRx.

Ive used Rotella as long as I've had my truck and thats what dad allways used in his 88 but I might be switching to something else soon because Rotella is now the most expencive oil around here (13.00-16.00/gal vs 9.00-13.00 for Delo or Mobil-1)

Oil Choices....

I have changed to Mystic Oil 15W-50 or 15W-40 Syn Blend in all of my Diesels. Well - except Black Dog.... It leaks so much oil that she still gets the Walmart Super Tech 15W-40.... And I always add Lucas to my services too.

The Caterpillar, the PSD, and the newest to me IDI all have the Mystic/Lucas combo. in them and I am loving the results so far.

I buy the Mystic and the Lucas at my local Rural King Stores. Mystic comes in 2 gal. jugs for $20.99@....

Always buy the Lucas on sale there when it's $19.99/gal. too.......

Just remember Rotella and Motorcraft are all CJ API now. No lead for your bearings. :(

I was checking out the motorcraft oils at the local wall mart. Noticed the bigger jugs were CJ 4 and the quart bottles said nothing about CJ 4 but had CI 4 listed on them. I looked all over the quart bottles but did not see anything about CJ 4. Makes me wonder if this was new old stock or what.

Well that would last you a little while. I go thorugh 3 five gallon pails of the Brad Penn stuff once a quarter. I started a thread a while ago on the CI / CJ thing if you need to read up on it.
