so my buddies dad bought a 6.9 to replace a 7.3 that had scored the cylinders and this is somehow tied into the Gp harness. i've never seen one before, is something he needs or should he just cap it off when he puts the 7.3 Gp system on?

cap it iirc the old style used a seperate temp sensor for the controler in the cooling passages

early glow plug controller(6.9 type)
run away from it as fast as possible.
your 7.3 glow plug stuff is a bolt- in. just put a pipe plug where the controller is at or leave it there and ignore it.

thanks guys thats what i thought but i wasnt sure. i told him to use the 7.3 gp system but wasnt sure what that was or if it was relevant

Its just as the above posters stated. Leave it in or remove it and plug the hole. Thats the old style 6.9 glow plug sender.
