has anyone noticed an increase in fuel economy after adding an intercooler?
not with my foot.
but then again, I don't have to be as aggressive with the throttle to get moving and keep going.
if you're looking for added fuel economy a IC isn't the first choice. If you want peace of mind and a widened powerband when towing heavy, a IC is a must.

I have been happy that my mileage after the intercooler didnt go down, considering how much harder I run my truck now.

Yeah, thats what I got too. Higher RPM's and lower egts's. All I need now is more fuel.

So has anybody done the water to air intercooler in our trucks. It seems it would be easier to set up but I really don't want to blow a bunch of MY money to be disappointed when there are proven good methods. However it has the potential to be a easier more efficient set up.

I have seen a couple do it but no more than some preliminary feedback at most, no real world towing and seasonal testing that I have seen.

How did I miss that, I even searched under his name because I thought he had one. That is even the kit I was thinking of going for.

I'm looking into putting a IC into my burb-o-matic and the water IC is the best fit for it too. I've sourced the water pump out of a wreck late 80's MBZ 300E, the coolant radiator out of a Ford Fusion Hybrid all I need to do to buy hose and a IC now.

Honestly I did a lot of research on the intercoolers and I found that cxracing water/air intercooler is near identical to the frozenboost stuff. I went with the cxracing water/air. I have had no issues with my air/air I have from them and its a little bit cheaper. Hope that helps

i think i got my answer.thanks guys.was fairly certain it was worth the $ based on what they do.though neither of you did it for that,it looks as if FE would have in fact gone up,if you continued driving the same way.
i understand you guys would have found the mod pointless not to enjoy the benefit of it.but i don't tow heavy, nor drive over 45 mph if i can help it lol.:D
it shall remain on the mod list eventually due those comments.thanks!

CRX is about 10 miles from my home...:sly I recall Mel bought an intercoler from them to fit the original Moose Truck. That was back in 2008 or 9 I think... He was impressed with it too. It was an air to air style and not an air to water style.

yeah i have the same model he is running and have nothing to complain about. I had no reason not to go back to them for my water/air setup. To be honest with you its just like the champion alum radiators. Very good price and no issues thus far with them. Except CXracing doesnt have shipping issues LOLLOL. The only thing i did not order from them was my heat exchanger. I got that from frozenboost because they had the rough size and shape i wanted for my application. Itchen to get everything back together and installed to see what this baby will do.

Agreed! For $101 shipped to my door, and well packaged at that, this is a heckuva deal
