Actually I intentionally leave it cause one, it's funny, and two, if people shin themselves on it, they're too dang close to my car. In reality it sticks out about the same distance as the hung spare.
I actually do take good care of this thing. I've converted it to 1.6 liter fuel injection, rebuilt trans, rebuilt rear axle, and sorted out all the wiring gremlins it had. Other than trying to get my dang evap monitor passed, there's literally nothing mechanically wrong with it.
I wasn't knocking you. The people that might be too close could be trying to figure out who Reagan is. As far as mechanical, that's how I roll I like rust and dents with good mechanical operation.

So, I got to work on my exhaust a bit this afternoon. I spent most of the day working on my houses exhaust, I'm putting in a "through the wall" chimney........ miserable.....oh well.

But I got the pipe pretty well set. I got to cut the long piece and tuck it in the elbow and I got to get a 2.25 to 2.5in reducer for the piece of pipe that comes out of manifold, tack weld and then finalize.
I'd like it tucked under the truck better but it's just not an option.

My concern is movement. I was thinking about leaving one of the slip joints unwelded or I bought some 10in lengths of stainless steel braided pipe that I can put in. Any commentary would be appreciated.

Well, it was an all day excursion, but I got er dun. Hats off to professional welders, I passed my welding time limit today and will need a few weeks recovery. The truck is still loud, but it's not ugly and that goes a long way with me. It can be poppy when you hard accelerating, but if you modulate yourself it's just "throaty".

Wilson seems to like it.

Since this is a 4x2 tow truck and you probably won't ever do any serious off roading with it, that exhaust should last you for a good, long time.

So I was checking my GPs, they're fine just checking them, and I noticed something that Ive been wanting to bring up on here to see if any of you are as weird as I am about wording sometimes. On this piece it says "disconnect for fording". So you're forced to ask "should I take this off before I drive?" Because aren't we "Fording" when we drive? Has this crossed anyone else's mind? I've always liked "perambulating in my perambulator" too.
