I suppose this should go in "What did you do today" but what the hell, it's more than that.

Stripped out the harness to tranny, found one broken wire, Violet/Yellow.

Disconnected all four connectors on drivers side fender, really would have to disconnet two. They are one SOB to get apart.

End results was, it still won't start in Park or Neutral.

More than likely the $$$$$$$$$$$ Gem is *****. Still have no 4WD indication, so that's probably it.

Today, putting all the underhood crap back together.

You guys like pictures, so this really happened.

Yup, I do a Western Union splice and soldered, double shrink wrap.

Yeah, and both hands look like that, old age skin and the blood appears.

As of yesterday 09/20/15 Sunday, got all the harnesses rung out and no broken wires.

On the TDS a guy from Texas is sending me a GEM and the wiring manual. Should be here in an hour or so. His GEM is a perfect match for what I have, hopefully it'll work, and cheap too. Not many people would lend you a manual, sure appreciate that, maybe in a couple of days I'll have it running again.

I havent read the whole story on this.

Not starting in park or neutral so i assume youve been jumping the solenoid to start it?

Have a remote start in it?alarm?

Got a momentary push button to start, not remote.

I think I've found the clutch pedal bypass switch, manual calls it a clutch pedal jumper (CCP). The damn thing is mounted on the steering column and appears to be a switch activated by the shifter, it's mounted on a flexible plastic tab. Pic later.

I have a 99 here.

Is this the connector you found?

This is the clutch pedal conector jumper.there are jumpers embeded in the plastic cap.with it unplugged, this truck wont crank over.

never thought of that, the clutch bypass switch.
all it is is a jumper.
but years ago a member was putting a stereo in his 97 with an auto and when it was installed the truck wouldnt start.
turns out by the factory amp was the clutch switch bypass thingy . and during the install it was unplugged .therefore causing the problem

Yep, that's the one. After I got it out I see it's just a connector with jumpers, the tab I thought was a switch operator is just a locating tab.
Got the circuit all checked out but came to a dead end, print say's #20 fuse is there, but there ain't none, the white/pink wire goes to the fuse panel but #20 is blank, could be for a gasser, but the W/P wire does jumper over into the GEM module, I'll find out after I get the GEM installed if the key starts it.

Rich; sure would appreciate that. Can you look and see if there is a 15 Amp fuse in #20 position in the incab fuse panel.

My #20 is blank. The circuit diagram calls for a fuse there. My starting circuit checks out OK until I get to that fuse. I don't have the new GEM installed yet so I can't see if it will start with this different GEM. The new Gem is the one I got from the guy in Texas, all numbers match my old one, just hoping it works. He has the same truck I have with the same options. He put in a new GEM $500, but found a broken wire after that.

In pic #5, it shows an input to the GEM from that fuse. I don't know what I'm missing, but all the wires are there.

I can't check for 12VDC with batteries disconnected, and it's impossible to get to the connections after the GEM is installed.
