Did your 60 have auto hubs? I dont think I have ever seen a nut like that. Mine all have used a 6 pin spindle nut socket.

Most auto parts stores have them. I believe you have the auto hub nuts. The manuals use a 6 pin socket

I dunno. That appears to be for a D44.

I know dodge used a 6 sided spindle nut. think it was 2 9/16"

OK. you need a 2 3/4" socket. it is for auto hubs only. If you are going to use manual hubs you need to change to the 2 6 slot nuts w the locking washer between them

OTC part number. 519097-4

For auto to manual conversion you can get a conversion kit from warn, it costs about $100 and does not come with hubs.

What's the difference? I thought it was just a matter of using the manual hub nut with spacer and slap in the manual hubs, btw I already bought the manual hubs.

Last week I pulled the entire front susp, today I had a chance to torch the rivets (got to love the torch) and pull all the brackets out of the way. I even managed to drill for the first bracket, I figured it was the easiest one. Now I have to figure where to drill for the rear LS bracket and then the shocks and then the track bar which at this point is unknown to Me, I'd like some advice for this.
Been reading 6 Nebraska IDI brown truck project, thank You for all the pics.

Here are some pics of todays progress.

Is there any interest in Me posting this pics or we have too many d60 conversions already

I do need some help measuring for all the brackets to set them on their right position. Found this thread but it is for a d50 straight axle, will this the d60 brackets fit the same way? the d60 brackets look about the same.

Did a bit more today after work, I installed the leaf springs and got most of the axle ready so it will be easier to mark and drill the holes for the shocks, stabilizing bar and track bar.
One thing that I noticed is one of the lock hubs (used ) will only lock when the entire cup it is a bit loose and when it does lock (short side of the axle) it is hard to move the wheel, other wise it moves nice and easy when it is un-locked, any ideas why is this?

Thanks.

Got some more done, I have the axle under the truck and the steering linkage connected, however I have not drilled for the shock mounts and stabilizer bar link bracket, I WILL APPRECIATE someone with a d60 on their truck could measure using the front or rear leaf spring bracket to either one of this for Me since I do not have another truck to guide Me with.

Also, the hydraulic brake hoses seem to be a little short for this axle. I'm going to order some but want to make sure in case someone knows different.

Thanks.
