If it's the truck
Park in the back!
I'll have it cleared out.

OPERATION: Make Green

so, my son is super conscientious about the environment.
he wants his truck to be environmental friendly....
so were throwing an electric moto..........

ok ok enough of the jokes LOL

my son originally wanted the truck black.
but after him seeing what it takes to do a paint job, and me pointing out that black is the hardest color to paint.
he has changed his mind to maroon.
well when he saw that i have a gallon of the OD green, he asked if he can paint his truck the same color.

so OD green it will go.

both doors and fenders were hammered.
we have parts we bought/donar vehicles.
2 decent fenders, 2 decent doors.
yesterday he stripped the fenders, doors and grille.
today i pounded out some of the major dents in the rear fenders, the drivers rear fender needed to come off.
the drivers side cowl was all smashed too.
so instead of tryin to straighten it, i opted to patch it
this is going to be a slam ban thank you maam kinda squirt job.
something to get him through highschool without driving a complete POS.

Nice ride! Your son is lucky he has a dad that has a shop with tools, and know how to use them. :)

If you do put a 300 or a 4.9L I6 in it, I know the 4.9 came with a manual 5 spd. option. It's a great combination. The 300/4.9 was the best engine ford ever built!

the 223 will stay, as long as this kid resides in my house and he dont blow it up.
i have way too many projects, and as long as it gets him back n fourth to school, thats all that matters.
later in life we can do a engine swap.
let him drive something truly old school, and learn!

I know you have the OD on hand but just a thought, 25$ gets you a gallon of tractor supply enamel. For a quick couple year paint job, it's hard to beat. Yeah, it will probably fade but you'd have a few color options.

Bring them up right. I hope I can do the same with mine.

i dont know if i have ever been more proud of this kid.
since monday, this young man has been dropping the mighty elbo grease.
monday was a 12 hour day, tuesday was a 14 hour day, and yesterday, on the 14th hour, i went to bed and he was still sanding.

the snowball effect was in full force.
in order to pull the trans, the trans tunnel needed to come out.
in order for the trans tunnel to come out, the seat needed to be removed.
so, he stripped the old heater core, insulation and informed me that we were going to be painting the inside as well, save the dash.
he has most of the inside done. still a little more to do.
then he's gotta sand the door jambs.

he keeps buggin me to bondo up the tail gate, but its so fried, i told him no, it needs to be replaced.

today, the plan is to finish up the inside and prep for paint.
get the clutch back in.
and i have a set of mid 40's plymouth bumpers to install.
both of his bumpers are shot. bent dented and huge POS's
i have the bumpers and its my attempt to get him out of the mindset that " i can only use 1961 F100 parts"

cant wait to see his face when its done.

The mighty mighty learning curve has struck!
I'll admit, I've showed him what to do, and how to do it
Some where he got it into his head that he was only to wire wheel the inside.
So earlier today he still had a lot of work ahead of him.
I told him to grab the Rolox, and the DA with a new 80g

Spent 15 min doing his passenger door jamb.
He was pissed I had it done so quick.
And asked if he could use those tools.
Yep, all of the tools besides the welder a you can use.
I even showed him the 7" grinder with a wire wheel but he was scared lol

But he got it all preped and I laid down some black for him.
Don't look too bad.!!
