ATS 088 exhaust side small bolt replacement

Part of the process to get my heads off, I had to split the turbo.
Took the exhaust housing off and the small bolts need to be replaced.
Can I use stainless steel bolts, they look like regular 1/4" bolts???
Or are these special "buy em at dealership stuff".

Stainless steel is a softer material than carbon steel is. If you buy aircraft aproved hardened stainless then there will not be an issue. Personally I would use a good quality carbon steel bolt with some anti sieze on the threads. Or an allen head bolt will work even better but please use anti sieze on the threads there too.

Gary, have you been sniffin' the gasket remover again ... Allen heads on a turbo ? Torx heads maybe with high temp antisieze , ZXN fastners would be great , but hard as heck to find , but brobably just best to get a rebuild kit since teh thing is apart and get teh proper bolts for teh thing

Yea I bought a set of stainless steel ARP studs for mounting my GT3076R ball bearing turbo on my eclipse back when I first bought the turbo. Within a month I noticed an exhaust leak coming from the turbo flange. When I tried pulling the turbo back off I couldn't without completely stripping the threads out of the housing because the stainless the studs were made out of were very close to the composition of the exhaust housing and they welded themselves together. DONT DO IT. Buy carbon steel bolts and use high quality anti seize.
