I currently have a Walker stock exhaust - very small diameter. No turbo nor any plans for one. I like the Hypermax 3.5" as it appears to follow the stock installation - over the axle and exiting on the drinker's side of the truck $795. Hypermax isn't answering their phone or returning messages. I'd like a kit - something that bolts on either to the existing flange or to that pipe. I'd prefer something less restrictive but not loud in the cab so I can have a conversation or listen to music.
Turbos quiet down exhaust and this truck does not have a turbo. I imagine there aren't too many 33 year old 7.3 IDIs without turbos so it seems like a good idea to buy a system while there are any available - if there are any still available.
Here's what the truck looks like now.... Thanks for any suggestions...

Just run 8' tall stacks coning out of the sides behind the cab, noise won't be too much of an issue

You might be able to adapt Flowmaster kit #17198, it's a 3" exhaust for the 7.5L gasser.

There's also Walker that makes a few kits I remember seeing on RockAuto.

Walker/Rockauto has 2 1/2" exhaust. No custom shops nearby.

I just finished installing a new exhaust system last week and I’m super happy with it. I went with the a Dynomax Y pipe which is 3” and all mandrel bends, a matching Dynomax intermediate pipe, a flow master flow FX flow through muffler, and a walker 3” tailpipe which is also mandrel bent and goes over the axle and out the passenger side.

The install was very easy, I finished it in a day. I welded some connections, but left others clamped so I could easily remove it if needed. It sounds great, quiet enough in the cab for long drives but still has a “diesel V8” growl if you’re on it with the windows down. Very inexpensive too, I think I spent around $300 all in with hangers, clamps, etc. but I did catch some things on sale.

Here’s the parts list
Dynomax 55291 passenger Y pipe
Dynomax 55293 driver Y pipe
Dynomax 31967 flange
Dynomax 53284
Flowmaster 71249 muffler
Walker 66044 tailpipe

I used walker mega clamps and various hangers, plus some exhaust sealant on the slip fit joints that weren’t welded.

They have other sizes and configurations. I used one with the muffler delete on a cummins, then I promptly ordered a muffler because it was annoying as hell.

Finally got through to Complete Performance. The company that makes the 7.3 Hypermax bolt on kit stopped production temporarily. It's supposed to be temporary and may start up again. Pre-orders taken now.
