I didn't get a notification of ur response. Ì haven't had it in the cold so not sure. Everything i e tried to start it I've had to give it a taste of either. I could run to the store , come out & it would start. Probably 2-3hrs after running it it would start fine. So your thinking putting a. He k valve in & it should. Are my problem ???

If it will not start at all cold, most likely you have a glowplug problem. If it starts for a second and then quits, its most likely a fuel drainback problem.

There's no pump in the tanks on these. The mechanical pump is the lift pump. A common place to install a check valve is in the rubber hose that attaches to the lift pump.
I'm assuming here that your engine won't start cold without ether but start warm/hot without it. If your engine needs ether to start cold, your first place to start looking is the glow plug system.

I've been reading & it talks about furl pumps with the turbo. Will i have enough fuel to the engine with just the me hanical fuel pump

Yes. As long as it's in good shape. You really only need a higher performance fuel (lift) pump if your turbo puts out enough air to require more fuel to the IP. That also usually requires a larger CC IP. The turbo kits that are/were sold were designed with the stock mechanical lift pumps in mind. As long as those kits haven't been modified you won't have any problems running a mechanical lift pump that's in good shape.

Awesome ty. So I bought an check valve. Get under there and the line coming out of the mechanicle fuel pump about 3" up is cut, they didn't add anything they simply cut the hard line n put a hose on it. I wanted to check & see if the mechanical fuel pump worked & as soon as I turned the key to ON it started pumping fuel so there's some kind of electric fuel pump. After sitting for 5hrs it won't start. Have to juice it with either. Glo plugs ???
