I need to do a few jobs under the hood - new fuel return lines, new valve cover gaskets, new glow plugs - and it would be easier if the factory fuel filter setup was out of the way.

Anyone have a recommendation a kit for relocating a filter/filters to the frame? I'd prefer to buy everything as a kit so I don't have to search for stuff.

Also, will I need an electric pump for this or can the mechanical pump handle this?

Thanks,

Scott

I would agree, for the 15-20 you will have R-Ring the unit to do the other work I can not see where you gain anything moving the filter and then investing in new lines etc. If it is not broke don't fix it.

I just picked up a wix filter head and filter from napa, tapped it into the fuel supply line between the engine and tank selector valve, and bolted er to the frame. Been that way for years no issues.

I upgraded my 1991 7.3 to an R&D lift pump kit. And his billet return heads. It’s a great kit! Or go the albeit “easier” route with the duralift pump and “deleting” the stock fuel heater and WIF base.

I like Justin's stuff; will have to check it out. Thanks

I got rid of the on-engine fuel filter on both my 7.3 IDI, and 7.3 2001 PSD. Both are E350s.

In both I have a RACOR on the frame. The pic is a RACOR that is from Ford. They are available down to two micron.

I have six vehicles that run. The E350s came stock with electric pumps. The other four are Fords from 65 to 76. They all came with mechanical pumps that I swapped long ago. My 84/89/93 E350 has three tanks and two electric transfer pumps. I am currently doing a frame-off redesign of my 63 F100. It has two tanks and one electric transfer pump.

I cannot imagine ever having another mechanical pump.

The attached pic is my current choice for a low pressure pump: Carter.

Iam using the Racor 500FG and using a 2 micron Filter.
They also come in 10 a 30 micron. I have it mounted over there the original water filter was mounted from the factory.
I don`t have Cruise Control, so it is actually mounted on a plate bolted to the 2 holes in the fender. They are pricy, and there is a ton of Chicom knock offs for way cheap. I`ll stick with the real thing.
