Boys and girls...

I have a lead on a 2wd F350 CC that the owner says "has a broken off GP stuck inside the cylinder"....besides the obvious, like taking off the head and hunting this puppy down, any other ideas?

I have not as of yet seen the vehicle; it's a 94 CC with 7.3 IDI and A/T. The price is right; but I also wanted to get some feedback on "converting" the truck to 5-speed and/or 4x4.

1. 5-speed conversion...get the parts, then presto...just labor, eh?

2. 4x4 conversion to straight axle/Dana 60....what year does this begin happening for Ford F350's? No desire to convert a 2wd to a TTB, obviously...

Plus, of course, any ideas on the truck as a possible project, 2wd or not. Body is OK, relatively straight, etc etc...$1000 or probably less.

Again, ~ 275k on the mill.

Thanks! New guy here -

A 94 truck would be a turbo with a standard trans. You need to really check this truck out. Something sounds way off on this truck.

My uncle has a 94 with a turbo and an automatic. it was the 94 with a POWERSTROKE that was only available with stick.

Thanks for clearing that up! So, this truck might have a turbo, or might not? it is indeed an automatic, and I think the owner would've told me if it was a PSD and not the 7.3IDI.

But I'm not so sure she would've forgotten to mention turbo....

You could probably get it cheap....it could be an IDI turbo, NA IDI or PSD in 94, but if it had teh E40doa it was some sort of an IDI, as someone mentioned the PSD wasn't available with an auto until 95 when that became their only diesel powerplant.

As I recall in 1993 the first half of the year all you could buy was a non turbo idi. Then from 1993 1/2 you could buy either turbo or non turbo idi. Then in 1994 the first half was the turbo idi and the last half was the psd turbo with a standard trans... No intercooler either. So my thoughts are any 94 non turbo auto will probably be an early 93 truck that was sold in 94 and registered that way. My wife bought a 1978 Jag XJ12 sedan in 1988 that was registered as an 88 because the po had dual resadency in both Arizona and California. I had to pay big bucks for that registration because Ca decided to call it a "new car" here from another state. DMV here really suxs big time...-cuss
