Has anyone ever swapped a 7.3 powerstroke into a 1990 f250 4x4 with the zf5 speed. Im wanting more power but new turbo kits are most costly then what I can get a 7.3 powerstroke for. I've looked for used turbo kit but no one around me has one. If they do they don't have everything you would need to put a turbo on a 7.3 idi.

It's probably doable with a full donor vehicle. Lots of wiring and computers, that's for sure. New throttle pedal etc.

@IDIoit did. It’s a lot more work than you think.

If I remember correctly, you have to swap out the entire dash to the OBS dash so you can use the PSD cluster, since all the gauges are controlled by the PCM

I suspect that you could rewire a brick dash for all the stroke wiring.
for me it was easier to just swap dashes.
this was a 89 CC LB DRW 460 auto truck
installed a 96 PSD, E99 turbo needed firewall mods.
OBS radiator.
ZF5 bolted in with a new cross member.
the dash and wiring was the hardest part.
highly suggest you swap to Efuel

I would probably go with the dash swap but trying to rewire the brick dash would nice to keep it in there. But swapping a powerstroke is just an idea I've been playing around with. I've also considering building the idi motor. But I was thinking horsepower around 250-300 would doable in one of these motors maybe?

A couple people here have put in mechanical engines that make a lot more power such as the DT-360.
