It's time to get your plans together for the 2017 Rally. Missy and I are hosting this year. It will be South of Louisville, KY at the....
Elizabethtown Crossroads Campground
209 Tunnel Hill Rd.
Elizabethtown, KY 42701
Reservations 1-800-975-6521. Tell the person taking your reservation that you are with the Oilburners group.
Dates: July 16th-22nd
Deadline to reserve a spot is APRIL 1ST! After this date, the sites are no longer reserved for the group and will be filled by whoever calls.
Call and reserve a site early! Once the full hook ups are gone (I reserved them all) you'll have to take a no sewer site. They have three cabins (I reserved them all), once they are full, it's tent sites.
Cost: $175/week for full hookups, cabins $275/week! The deposit is $75. You can cancel up to 2 weeks before your reservation and get $65 back (They keep $10 for credit card fees).
It is close to several bourbon distilleries, Kart Kounty with the biggest go-kart track in the world, Abraham Lincoln's birth place, Fort Knox/Patton Museum, dinner train, and Louisville is full of things to do. Louisville Slugger Museum/factory, Church Hill Downs, Children's museum, Belle of Louisville paddle boat, Mega Cavern and Kentucky Kingdom Amusement Park, plus lots of other stuff if you're so inclined.
We will have a potluck and likely a Taco Tuesday. I would like to do some of the activities as a group (go karts, bourbon distillery, and maybe something else).
The dates of activities will be posted as they are set (closer to time).
Can't wait to see new and old friends. Thanks for letting us host this summer.
Here is the tentative schedule of events:
Sunday: Arrival day for most. Nothing but setting up camp, getting supplies, and goofing off around a campfire.
Monday: Marker's Mark Distillery. They want us there around 11am. It's going to be about an hour drive with a convoy on country roads. So we'll roll out around 10am.
Tuesday: Kart Kountry late morning/early afternoon. Taco Tuesday group meal for dinner. Everyone brings a Mexican dish to share.
Wednesday: Whatever. No plans.
Thursday: Whistle Stop Café in Glendale, KY. Will leave campground close to 10am. Need to be there at 11 when they open. Eat a light breakfast cause they will feed you plenty of good food.
Friday: No plans.
Saturday: No plans. Likely departure day for most.
Keep in mind, this isn't set in stone. Weather will likely move some of this around. Do as much or as little as you want. There are many other things to do in the area as posted in the first page of the thread.
