I know I keep asking about the same truck and it’s troubles. But here it is again:
1997 7.3 OBS.
Has code for CPS. Been replaced twice! New, motor craft CPS!
I’ve traced the CPS plug and wires and find no fault.
Truck sometimes barely starts. Then idles ok for a little while. Then starts idling...
As I’m coming along in understanding how the 7.3 PSD works I believe I should replace the IPR and IPC preemptive to having a dead on roadside occurrence.
Two questions about doing this:
1- do these need motor craft brand replacements, or can I get by with aftermarket?
2- are all 7.3 IPR/IPC the...
I’m losing prime on my 7.3 obs. Does that mean time to rebuild the repair the fuel bowl?
I know it’s a basic question, but PSD stuff is totally new to me. Online seems like it’s 99% likely the drain valve. I smell fuel, but don’t see a leak under the hood.
I’m looking at adding water / meth to my 7.3 OBS PSD. To keep it clean and cool EGTs while towing on WMO.
Anybody here running water/methanol along with WMO? I’m not wanting to re-invent the wheel. Just like to know the outcome before I invest.
Im looking at buying a Tymar intake for me obs 7.3. Everything is stock on the truck. Does installation of Tymar require the ccv mod.? I’m not sure if it hooks up after the ccv or before ccv, requiring a modification.
Someone that has done this, please let me know.
this truck is my Dad’s 1990 F350 IDI. My kids lovingly call her “Ole’ Moldy”.
It’s fitting enough. I’m trying to slow down the rust. The dump insert is my brimar I store since my IDI died a few years ago.
I’m coming from the IDI world. So pardon my elementary question.
I have 1997 PSD with zf5 trans. Non- modded truck!
When pulling my utility trailer with firewood I’m downshifting a lot more than I’d expect. And slowing WAY down.
What’s the first thing to do for more power?
Exhaust or Tuner, or...
I’m having problems with my trailer plug on my truck. The only thing working is the running lights.
Stop/ turn lights are both dead.
My simple question is:
Can I run new wires off each tail light, with an inline fuse on each side to protect the truck, therefore avoiding dropping the fuel...
1990 IDI
Blows bubbles out coolant overflow. Runs low on coolant while driving. I pressure tested radiator, no serious leakage. I then pulled glow plugs and pressurized the radiator again. Nothing happened.
What am I missing?
I’m replacing the water pump on my obs 7.3, 1996. Also new t stat, motorcraft.
What else should I look at while I’m in here?
My first time,
I’m thinking t stat housing, and heater core return nipple.
?
I’m in the Midwest. We do have winter here, not severe in southern Indiana, but still cold- average 35-40f daytime, night lows easily in 10-25f.
My question:
Anyone stop wmo in winter?
Mix differently?
??
Curious about others experience.
I’m looking to mount up some snow tires for my truck. Need extra rims to put em on. Steel is fine. Anything strait and functional is all I need. Like it to be local to pickup, not spend on shipping. Going on 1996 f250 srw
Let me know if anyone has some
Thanks
on my 1997 PSD the rear tank is leaking at the sending unit.
Here’s the thing;
The tank was about 2 years old from my last truck. I used a new gasket from LMC. Not sure if I should’ve used some rtv or sealant around he new gasket. This tank never leaked in my previous truck.
What to do next?
been looking at why my steering feels loose. I’ve found the lower shaft is loose. Also called intermediate shaft. Online the dorman part costs $230+. Is rather find another way.
Is there any other options to fix this??
1997 PSD F250
I put pyro thermocouple into the manifold on drivers side. What is the safe max temp for this engine?
I set my IDI alarm at 1100*F. Not sure what to expect with this truck. 1997 PSD
so I have a new fuge kit from pa biodiesel. Instead of using the 55 gallon drum I’m hooking to a 275 gal home heat oil tank. I have the tank gonna stand on end. I have the 1/2hp motor with Dayton pump. Question: can I use this pump to pull the oil up to the top to the fuge, or is this a pull...
im going to be buying a new centrifuge ASAP, like next month. Was mostly gonna get pabiodiesel kit. Now I’ve found a nice second hand gravity centrifuge for a decent price.
I understand that on a pressure driven unit, you leave it running and recirculating.
On gravity type how do you get a...
so,
I’ve had this truck
(1997 f250 PowerStroke) 6k miles. To get a double check on my opinion of it’s steering/ handling I took a drive in a friends 1993 f350 IDI which is at least the same OBS front. In my opinion the steering suspension feels loose, or kinda wandering about the road...
I’m soon to build a new centrifuge/ filtration setup. Mostly been considering the pa biodiesel pressure driven 108gph unit.
Then I come across this idea.
Has anyone here done the juicer Centrifuge conversion?
I see plenty on the internet. Mostly for WVO. I have WMO. Not sure it makes much...
as titled, wont start at 20f. Has new glow plugs and harnesses. Relay shows 7 volts going to glow plugs, not sure if that’s good? This is my first Powerstroke. Last truck was IDI powered.
Not exactly sure where to look next. Obviously plugged in it’s fine. ??
so,
New to me 1997 f250. Would like to run wmo again as I did with my 1991 IDI. Not sure if it’s ok or a bad idea? Sure someone here has done it, and has the shirt to prove it. Please tell me how it went. And did you use a coolant fuel heater. Or what else?
Looking to Sell as much as possible. Has a great interior thats still complete. Id like to sell whole, I do have the title.
Not yet settled on how I'll part out whats left. Open to offers and ideas.
I can deliver the whole Cab on the front suspension up to about 100 miles- from zip 47025
Here is a complete as you'll find turbo kit from my IDI 7.3. Provided me with about 7 psi and had about 8k miles since rebuild.
I bought it here a few years back and have enjoyed it much. Lots of whistle and power. It was solid but my engine has died and I'm not planning to run a turbo on my...
