I’m having problems with my trailer plug on my truck. The only thing working is the running lights.

Stop/ turn lights are both dead.

My simple question is:
Can I run new wires off each tail light, with an inline fuse on each side to protect the truck, therefore avoiding dropping the fuel tanks to work on that wiring mess.
If so, what size fuses should I install.

If you fill in the truck stats in your sig line it helps us answer questions...

Short answer, yes but WHY!?

This truck has a lot of butchered wiring. No stock T in place.

I ran good tail light wiring.
Later on, the trailer wiring died. The exact reason unknown. That dead wiring is over top the fuel tanks. I’d rather not remove the fuel tanks again. Since I have good new wires at the tail lights, so long as it won’t over load the circuit, much easier to start their.

What type of truck are you dealing with ? It will not overload it unless you have a lot of light on the trailer. older trucks they where always wired into the main rear wiring harness.
