Sounds real smooth. Love the whistle! Awesome job.

Seeing it Friday night and hearing it this morning just makes me realize how much work mine needs! Mine idles so bad you could sit a gallon of milk and a container of ice cream on the hood and have a milkshake 5 minutes later!

I am pretty sure that my crank case vent was oiling my water pump pulley. Hard to get an oily belt to stay quiet.

Picked up 4 gallons of fleet charge. Decent price from Advance using 20% off from online ordering. Got too much crap in the old coolant for my liking trying to collect it. I may filter and bottle it up for a rainy day. The oil is floating mostly on top so we will see. Otherwise I'll dispose of it.

The before sounds like my 390k mile engine, the second sounds wonderful.

The engine sound is amazingly different. Here is the before.

Here is after the rebuild.

You be the judge.

Timing advance was on,in the first video and off in the second? The engines timing sound a few degrees retarded from the first one,is what it sounds like.

It's possible but I'm pretty sure the timing advance was not on for the before. I know it wasn't for the after. I also don't know for sure where the timing is now that it's together with the new cam/gear etc. When I assembled it, I advanced the pump a hair from where it was before.

To me I hear a distinct tapping that is no longer there. It seemed louder on the drivers side middle. (#4 and 6). Probably no coincidence that there was a distinct tick in that area when I rolled it over by hand before shipping it off. I would have loved to seen the pistons. Probably should have went ahead and pulled the heads but warranty and all.

If you have no use for old antifreeze, many of the ag shops (tractor dealers) will gladly take it off your hands. Also doesn't matter if mixed with oil, they use it for ballast weight in tractor tires. Far less corrosive than calcium. I have my Kubota tires filled (all four).

Congrats on getting it started "again" and yes it sure is quiet and smooth. Curious what you find on the timing.....

Little more progress.

Got her filled with antifreeze. Got her up to temperature. Biggest problem I've got at the moment is the fuel filter is leaking. Guess I'll have to put a strap wrench on it. Got the cold advance hooked up and i think the timing is pretty close. Definitely more cackle with it on than off but I'll check it here shortly. Best part is I can't feel any exhaust leak on the drivers side now. Not sure about the pass side. Don't have enough exhaust pipe on it to get close enough to tell.

I think I may have even fixed the routing of the AC line. The turbo oil feed line was leaking a drip. It was hot so I couldn't do much to tighten it but I'll fix it. Not gushing fluid anywhere. Steering feels AWESOME! No slop. Even both ways this time. Now it's killing me to drive it again.
