What brand are you running and what are your thoughts on them? Deka wants $450.00 for 2 . I really dont want to spend that much i would go $300.00 tops.

I just buy Deka every 5 years and never worry about my batteries, incredible reliability. Because it's 7°F in the winter and 117°F in the summer any cheaper battery will only last 2-3 years at best so it's not worth going any cheaper.

Just out of curiosity, how are you able to find them so expensive? They are nowhere near that spendy here

Walmart EverStart Maxx 65N. Don't get 65S, they have lower CCA than 65N. Cheapest you can get for 850CCA and have a 3 year free replacement warranty. I bought a pair in early Dec 2018 for my truck, but then about a month later got my RV and moved the batteries to it after a couple more months, once I fixed enough stuff on it to switch to it. I haven't had a bit of trouble from them.

$98.76 each, at least around here: https://www.walmart.com/ip/EverStar...ttery-Group-Size-65N-12-Volt-850-CCA/20703125

Battery prices like much else are rising fast. But I've been very happy with my Costco batts. They don't have the same stellar warranty they used to but when you bring in two batteries and say "this one is toast, I need two more" they don't argue or even say anything. They don't test them, just swap out for two new ones. That's the kind of service I like, plus they are quality and almost always last a long time.
They are now only carry Interstate, in the past it was kirkland signature.

I've gone to interstate because that's what my nearest shop carries. Having to take a ferry ride to a big-box store to deal with a warranty doesn't work for me. (At least a half day blown.)

If you're on the verge of moving them out of the engine bay, I would say the group 31 is a bunch easier to find a molded box for.

My Walmart batteries have been a pain. Won't crank engine fast enough in cold weather. 30s-40s. Once it's in the 70s+ they're fine. Walmart won't warranty them either. Don't recommend.

I have started buying "used" batteries at Autozone, Advance, and I haven't yet, but the interstate guy at work says he has them also. They are not exactly used, they are batteries that have sat on the shelf too long. I haven't bought any lately, but I was getting them for about $50 each with a 30 day warranty.

I have had very good service so far from these batteries. You have to be flexible, when you go to the store their inventory will vary. I can sometimes retro fit different batteries by turning them around. Two years ago they had two of the same type batteries at Advance, they sit them on the end of the counter. They wanted $70 each. I told the guy I could get them at Autozone for $50 so he discounted them to that. They are a little bit smaller size physically than the original batteries in my diesel, but they have been starting it fine this past winter. I don't plug it in.

I was asking the interstate guy about it, and he admitted the "used" batteries are all he runs in his personal vehicles.

Odd. Mine started fine in the low to mid 30s just this winter at 3 years old. Are you sure your battery cables or starter aren't shot? Mine has the original battery cables and possibly even the original starter, but it's under 100k miles still. I've put 10k on it since I've had it.

Starter has been replaced by the PO before, needs cables but it works fine in warm weather. That's why I think it's the batteries.
