filterbarn does have good prices, however they do not carry the wix 2 mic filter, or the filter bases. They do have a fleetguard filter that is an equivalent to the WIX 33674, but I prefer WIX filters. Also since I would have to order from rockauto to get the filter bases, paying shipping from both locations would eat up the $13.62 in savings from the 14 mic and the 6 mic filters.

If you are into fleetguard filters, than it would be a great place to order replacement filters. However in 5 minutes of searching I was unable to get a mic rating for the fleetguard filter.

Actually the only thing I can find about fleetguard rating is right here.

http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/dev/gdp-mk-2-filter-kits-t245496.html

It does not apply to this filter, but read post #6.

Before ordering a fleetguard I would want to see a similar spec sheet for the FF5319 (filterbarns 2 mic equivalent for the WIX 33674), but I am having trouble finding on on the net (my google-fu is lacking today).

Remember that filtering the oil is KEY to getting partials out of it that will cause excessive wear to the fuel injection system on your truck!! If it doesn't get filtered right, than it will cost you money down the road!!

I am an engi-ma-nerd, so I am VERY particular about the parts I purchase and use. Drives my wife nuts!

EDIT: Looks like you need to call to get a full spec sheet.

hey phazertwo keep tab on how many gallons you can filter with the three filters you have choosing and when I get mine built I will do the same. I am building mine with the home water filters and am going to use a 3-4 filter setup to get mine down to 1 or 5 micron. The filters I will be using will be around $1 each with me buying them in bulk. I am going to sift my oil with a 100 micron and then go into I think 50,20,5 and then 1 micron home water filters.

I will try to. So far I have run 20 gallons of 50/50 through it.

hey phazer can you post a pic or two of the filtered oil please

I am actually out of oil at the moment!! I have a few gallons here and there that I need to go pick up. Not to worried about it though since the turbo is on the work bench... :sly

However the oil comes out quite a bit more amber than it was (keep in mind I have ONLY filter automotive oil, and not diesel oil yet). I am satisfied with it, but am seriously thinking about adding a 1 or .5 mic whole house water filter, just to see what kinda difference it makes.

my oil is black as coal after filtering. I think the only way to remove the carbon or soot would be with a centrifuge. I hope to do that setup one day.

yesterday i picked up a water filter and hooked it up to my barrel pump and pumped it into the same barrel for about 30 min. the oil was alot cleaner than before it was filtered it still has a very little black tint to it. when i compared the filtered and the non filtered oil and i could see the differance. when i diped my finger in both the oils the filtered oil was more amber than black
