There’s nothing wrong with slow and steady, as far as it goes, but I think it is a bit subjective. I’m not too keen on the traffic in Florida or California, but if you were pulling heavy in an old truck on the interstate in Kansas, and going 20 under, you’d be causing lots of congestion, as much traffic as there is on the interstate here.

Few people in Kansas drive slow, there’s lots of distance between places of even the smallest significance, and driving isn’t particularly productive, we’ve got stuff to do. There’s another Kansan here from the western part of the state who probably has a similar opinion about this. There’s few short distances around here, and plenty of long ones. Just drove 620 miles today in fact. It’s not productive, but necessary. Driving 50-55 would have taken all day, driving 75-80 just took most, and gave me enough time to accomplish everything else I had to do today, and still make it home in time to go 200 miles in the other direction tomorrow morning, to return the night of the 4th. Not a personal trip. Driving below 40 mph on the interstate is illegal in Kansas, which, obviously, that is very slow, except in mountainous regions. But if you’re only going 55 in your NA 7.3 with 18k lbs behind you, you might only be going 40 at the top of a hill. The whole speed thing seems relative and subjective to circumstance. Just my 2 cents, the elaborate kind with the heads of wheat on the back side of the coin. Kansas out.

??? I guess I’m too young and dumb to know what this means. I don’t know everything, hardly anything important, but I do know the situation for most rural Kansans. Not super applicable outside the area. You know what works for you. That’s what counts, right?

I am not a Kansan, but I can see Kansas from the top of most hills around here. That said, I am not committing suicide by driving 55 or 60 on an interstate any where in the Great Plains. Driving 20 to 30 mph slower than traffic around here is a good way to end up becoming the newest hood ornament on one of those 80,000 lb Tupperware torpedo's operated by someone who got their CDL from a 1-800 number. I have spent a lot of time, energy, and money making my truck comfortable, capable, and safe to pull anything I want along at 70+ mph. I would not have done so if I didn't feel there was value in doing so.

technically if you are towing anything here in California the speed limit is 55. Now I have never seen that enforced. I have seen it thrown on as an additional charge, but never by itself.
Most people have their jacked up new diesel truck, 40' 5th wheel toy hauler over loaded and are doing 75+ down the freeway in the fast lane while texting.
When towing I try to keep it between 60 and 65 in the slow lane just because we have so many bad drivers here you never know when one of those idiots are going to cut you off trying to get to an exit they already passed from the left lane.

Yes, you. @Rdnck84_03 is likewise a Kansan, but I haven’t personally met him. I don’t know his opinion on towing speed, but yours was easy to piece together from snippets of posts here and there. And seemed like you told me about pulling something at speed when we did meet in person.
Honestly I try to keep all of my towing off the interstate, I prefer a slower lifestyle! I normally stick to gravel or secondary highways.

Nothing wrong with that. I’ll admit to having pulled plenty of things that made me glad I wasn’t going 80 mph, but there’s definitely a time and place for pulling that fast… not always necessary, but it is sometimes.

I love that red truck, beautiful. Then I like bright red.
Way over priced, but with the low original mileage,
makes the price jump up. Remind me first time as a
kid looking at a PB Center Fold out. I was dazzeled by
her beauty.

The white truck EHHH, well it`s a white truck. Today,
everything is yuck white. Nothing special there, except
it is way cheaper....so far.

I noticed the thumb nail pictures on the right, and saw
this 68 Corn Binder. I have a soft spot for them.
A IDI in one would be perfect, Corn Binder engine in a
Corn Binder truck. This is the last year for that body style.

I have a set of those Per-Lux lights, thinking of putting them
on my 86.
