Finally got around to replacing the sacked out I-beam bushings. Have a pit to work out of so it was fairly simple, i didnt even take the wheels off just used some I beam sections across the top of the pit and some bottle jacks, one for the frame on the side i was working and one for the traction beam itself. Everyone said to use a ball joint press, but after fiddle f'n around with it i just put the hammer bit on my .498 shank chicago pneumatic rivet buster (the original Big Nasty) and it knocked out those bushings with some force. Same with putting them back in, One of the cups from the ball joint set and the rivet hammer and they went in smooth as butter.
I am glad i bought all the different bolt size bushings, because i thought i had the bigger bolts on the truck but turned out they were the smaller diameter ones, 1/2 in i think. Hate getting something apart and realizing the part is wrong. The truck is seemingly back in alignment, it looks better up front in turn, goes nice and straight down the road, and i dont hear a peep from the front end going over every single bump in the road. Definitely a win!
