I went and picked up my new pivot bushings and rear shocks. After I got back to my garage, I put the old front shocks back on Blue Truck. Since I'm going to Harbor Freight tomorrow after work, I did NOT want to make the 140 mile round trip without some type of shocks on the front of the truck. They may not perform like new, but there's still a fairly big difference between having them on and having them off.

Pulled the '86 out from the boneyard at my brother's place after being parked for two years. After driving it about 3.5 hours, we hit a rest stop. We thought we smelled campfire, or grass burning...but it was just around the truck. Then we realized it was coming from the truck. My son said, we should video this. So...

Spent most of today exorcising the electrical gremlins. Redid a number of electrical connections, and cleaned up some grounds. Also replaced the High/Low beam headlight switch. The windshield is leaking from the top, so I removed the trim to let it dry out before trying to seal it up. It's got a 1300 km trip ahead of it next week!

I did go to harbor Freight and bought a ball joint press. I was only 10 miles from town (on the way to Harbor Freight) when I almost got to shove a Ranger through my radiator. I knew it was going to be trouble when I saw that the turn signal went on maybe 50' before the turn and the Ranger looked like it was going about 10MPH. The old guy behind the wheel started to turn right in front of me, but finally saw me and ****** his wheel HARD back into his lane. If he would have kept going, there wouldn't have been anything that I could have done. A few miles farther down the road, I saw that this '67-'72 Chevy was still sitting there out by the road like it's for sale. It's only been there for at least 4 1/2 years so I guess the p[rice is ENTIRELY high. I just barely managed to snap a picture as I went by (stupid last minute decisions). After Harbor Freight, I stopped by Wal-Mart and picked up another FL1995 (I mean why not?) among other things. While I was in there, I saw a sign that said they're hiring night time stockers. After I was about half way home, i thought that I should have put my own sign on theirs that said "how about hiring some more checkers too?" At least the drive home was fairly uneventful.

The old beast can still shine.... after 4 hours of waxing and cleaning trim

Kind of happy it doesn't have a clear coat, I imagine after all these years it would be peeling like crazy. Sometimes the old ways last longer.
