I drove back to Kearney, Nebraska. I went to Menard's and then Wal-Mart. No issues. On the way home, I was just a few miles north of the state line. Another vehicle was coming toward me, so I dimmed the lights. All of a sudden, there was NO HEADLIGHTS and I was at highway speed after dark! I said "Oh (four letter word)!" out loud. I was lucky enough that no one was behind me and I managed to keep it in my lane while I got stopped on the shoulder of the road. I took out my phone and looked around inside. The dimmer switch on the floor (1985 truck) was unplugged and sitting cockeyed on the carpet. I knew that it was loose, but not that loose. I took the kick panel off and got it plugged back in. PRESTO! Working headlights.
I carefully sat the switch down on the carpet and continued on my way home. The switch worked fine that way as long as I was careful not to knock it over with my foot. I just seem to have all kinds of adventures lately. After I put my groceries away, I sat down and ordered a pait of the brightest headlight bulbs that LMC Truck sells for the bullnose trucks. That way, I'll have the most light I can have when I take it back to Colorado for another camping trip in a couple of weeks.
