So back when I had my n/a idi about 5-6 years back.... thought it was less time than that but damn time flies by, the facet was the way to go. My 94 is bone stock with the exception of my ip turned 2 flats and now advanced slightly (so I believe) after paying a visit to no mufflers a couple weeks ago. I am not happy with the facet I have gotten the fuel filter light 4 times now and haven't even had my truck loaded and my truck runs awesome aside from that.

Looking to get some new ideas.... heres my current setup.

Dang, see this is why Im trying to get people to move away from the facets, Ive had too many fuel delivery issues with them. Something you could try is a boost-a-pump, its basically an inverter that bumps up the voltage supply to the pump to get some more rpms and hence more gph. Because it is more electrical pressure, and higher rpms the pump usually lives a shorter life, but if youre ditching it anyways it may be worth a shot.

Unfortunately the fuel kit you pmed me about still isnt ready, but if you want I can set you up with the materials for you to set it up yourself, just wont have the fancy water jet brackets, billet fuel block, etc that is in the works.

Thanks Wes!! , I am going to live with it right now I was getting into a bit of a spirited mood every time the light has shown up so for now until I that kit you have is ready or I think up something on my own (unlikely) ill wait it out and stay under 2400 rpms lmao. Its only happened once I hit a grade and I mashed the pedal to the floor.

I think the 1\8" porting inside the pump
( transicold group buy) is the BIG problem with mine...

I had never run one before but remember everyone talking about them. If I could come up with a real good pump and filter setup that actually performs id be one happy camper. This pump clearly just cannot do it.

These electric pumps are fine for our engines. Please remember MOST of our fuel is returned to the tanks after it goes thru the injection pump and injectors.Remember its a coolant too. As built as my engine is I have never had the change fuel filter light come on.Actually the ONLY time it can on was about 2 months after I purchased my rig in 96. I had both oil and fuel filters from Fram on the engine. Not my idea but the "other guys idea". Never had another issues using several other fuel filters. I run only the Ford oil and fuel filters now. No need to bad mouth these electric fuel pumps.

I still have the fram filter on the truck that came with it when I purchased it 3 weeks ago. I did do an oil change but moving into a new house, picking up a puppy, etc the fuel filter slipped my mind.

If I change the fuel filter like I plan on doing with a motorcraft or wix filter and I still get the light. I will say its the pumps fault as I did not get that with the mech pump.... only thing changed was the facet.

Also as I am currently displeased I don't see anything wrong with looking for other viable options you know?

I thought I'd be slick and put inline fuel filters prior to the selector valve to keep trash out of the new selector valve. I did a 38G upgrade on the back and used the stock 18g side. Any RPM over 2200 was causing the filter light to come on and would actually act like a vapor lock and stall the engine while running from the back tank. After removing the pre selector valve filter , it resolved it self. I left the filter on the front tank, and I could recreate the issue after running on it as well.

So what I'm getting at is , on these fuel systems, any blockage from the tank to the IP , that will cause a vacuum issue inside the filter will set off the fuel filter light.

hope that heps,

I use my e-pump as a pusher, not a puller. I can bury the speedometer with arrow bouncing & no supply problem. No turbo, fancy IP or injectors. That is empty of course.

Years ago on the other site, people were using the Holley Red pumps. I switched to that many years ago and don't have any issues. The pump states not for constant duty use, but I haven't had an issue (I do carry a spare in case). I also use the Napa 3417 filter, it does away with the lower filter housing (which is a pain). The filter has a drain.

Interesting, what pump are you using? Have you had a pressure gauge on it?

Like Wes said the GPH is much higher as a pusher...maybe there is a way to get that worked out for our benefit.

I have a gauge on the outlet side of my filter and I get 9psi at idle, 6-7psi cruising, but under WOT it will drop down to 1-2psi. According to other members this kind of difference equals at least 2 degrees, but most likely 4 degrees of timing retard.

So I'd be happy for a solution using the same pump but hooked up better! Of course I have it set up on a relay and the filter is fairly new. There are MANY on this site and FTE with the same/similar psi numbers using this pump.

I agree. The facet route of pulling fuel never seemed right to me. That is a heck of a long way for that pump to pull fuel and it's all up hill. The facet is probably is probably an improvement over a 20 yo air intruding fuel system and mechanical pump - especially for starting.

However I've always understood electric pumps are pushers. Look where OEMs put electric pumps, by or in the tank. OEMs have way more money into engineering and testing than we ever will. I've honestly never heard of an electric puller fuel pump until the facet and on here.

The facet is always mounted way up high on ****** trucks 10 feet up with like 13 feet of line. They are meant to pull. However they may not pull fast enough for our applications.

Mine is on the frame rail and still starves...
I think 1500 $ truck is onto something with the pre filter restriction idea (as I have them also)...
I am gunna try the poppet valve in the returns
