so i called the dealership and there was three different options for the transmission harness.

1- 35.97
2- 46.98
3- 235.89

so im guessing that the cheaper ones have to be accessory plugs that run to something else? And the one of highest cost being the actual harness.

So that expensive harness does that run all the way from the transmission to the pcm? or is there another wiring harness between all of that stuff. Because if there is i need a picture or part number etc etc so i can get that also.

that im not sure.id have to say the expensive one is for an auto.if you go to the dealer they can show you a picture and print it out for you.you could then scan it and post it here for us to look at.

thought of that but there generic pictures.

so lets see that puts us at

Truck-800.00
Fuel-300.00
Harness-350.00 at worst
Pcm-350.00 at worst
New Associated parts-500.00

That puts us at what 2300 in parts

but will i really what will be left to part out worth anything besides the engine?

If i go with the 1988-1991 body style what else would i have to get? Someone said earlier that i would still have to get a pedal/ bracket assembly?

heres what the guy is saying about the pcm so far...

Its been on my workbench for the past few months.

It does work, I tested it in my own 97 truck. It was a spare I had from my 94.5 Powerstroke. Since I sold that truck, I no longer have a need for an extra PCM for a 94-95 manual.

from me:so wait i'm confused, aren't the parameters for a 1997 model year. How does that one work for the 1997?

It will still run the engine and all its functions, it just doesn't have transmission programming for the automatic. The PCM I have for sale is for a 5-speed truck.

the only difference between the 94.5-97 pcm is just minor things that you wont even notice.

as for parts you will have a motor, rear axle,4x4 pieces, good body panels, glass, interior pieces.trust me you will make a good chunk of your money back.out here a NA 7.3 idi or a psd sells starting at 1500 all the way to 3000.00.if the motor is good dump it for 2000.00 and theres your money back.

if you use a 87-91 for a donor you will need the master and slave cylinders and line and the pedals for the 92-97.

im much happier with the 5 speed in my idi anyways.but if you really want the high idle i still think a chip is the easiest and cheapest way to go then makeing everything factory just for the aic to work.

part of the needed upgrades are the billet shafts.some guys have snapped the input shafts.im speeking from experiece here, spend the money and have it done right or convert to a zf.my friend payed 1,000.00 to have mine rebuilt with all the updates and crap.i had that tranny out 6 times after that.the last time i lost all but 1st and reverse.i converted to a zf and couldnt be happier.

right.

The shafts add extreme cost really fast.

it will add easily 2600 in cost

Use the updated input shaft that comes with the updated planet. You need billet if your going to bomb the hell out of the engine.

The new updated stuff will hold up just fine.
