Both of mine have the Ford/Sterling 10.25. Richard 1988 F350 DRW 4x4 7.3idi Banks Sidewinder Dump body and 1996 F350 SRW 4x4 351gas

Both of my trucks also have the 10.25 rears....one SRW and one DRW.

The Ford 10.25 has 12 bolts that hold the cover to the axle housing on the back.

The Dana 70 and 80 all have 10 bolts holding the cover on (IIRC)

Unless it's a 450, it'll be a Sterling 10.25.

If the oil fill plug is on the rear cover, it's a Dana.

If not it's a Sterling 10.25"

Dana 80.........Not on F250 or F350's.

The rear axle on these F250 and F350 IDI's was Dana 70 '83-'84. Then they were Ford/Sterling 10.25's from '85-97.

On F450 and up..... who knows....

That is another tell tale sign. The 10 bolts holding the cover on for Dana, and 12 for a sterling is another.

I think that the Dana axles require you to pull a hub to access the brakes as well, kind of like the bigger Eaton's and Rockwell's.

The 10.25 jsut requires you to pull a wheel and then you can pull the drum without knocking off the hub.
