i never got the code reader...

Everything's still workin' great though...it was definitely the tach sensor.

Does anyone know if I can install a tach readout with the tach sensor i've already got in the van? or would that be a secondary sensor?

I don't know if the diesel vans were available with a tach. The pickup truck guys use the tach and wiring out of a parts truck.

Since you have the old body style van, you might be able to use a tach out of a pickup. Of course you would have to do some wiring.

the whole instrument cluster from a pickup wouldn't fit in the van would it? Do you mean just try and remove just the tach readout and mount it somewhere?

I know there are aftermarket tachs that you can just mount somewhere, but i think they usually use the spark plugs to read rpms...obviously i'd have a problem with that.
