Remotely mounted Turbo?

Our motors just can't handle that much boost. I can think of no reason to run compounds on a daily driver. There are plenty of single, or tandem ideas out there to get to 15 pounds.

My VP44 CTD could hit 40 pounds of boost just fine, all it had was one garrett. (Or maybe it was a holsett.)

I plan to do twins... but I will try to stuff them under the hood before I run them under the cab. One reason shorter runs... but also I dont think water crossings would go too well dunking a hot piece of cast iron in cold water. I know people do it... but I would like to avoid it.

In stock trim, Flatlander could only manage 11psi or so with the compounds, but once it got enough fuel(Moose Pump) it was a different ball game. Are we thinking twins would have lower boost #s than a true compound system or the other way around?

I was poking around under the hood, and I'm not sure how I'm going to plumb it. I think I'll give up the idea of twins, just from the standpoint of overcomplication.

I am doing the same and putting mine under the passenger side. I am using a superduty turbo .84 exhaust, 1.00 intake. Will take lots of pictures. I don't care about lag, I am only wanting the extra power for mountain pulling.

i am also doing the same thing as you i have the exact same turbo you do to, but im trying to fit it towards the rear of the engine, that way i can let gravity feed the oil back to the engine

I have seen this argument several times. There is really no lag time compared to a system that uses an intercooler. Think about it. It goes from the X amount of feet from the exhaust to the front or intake. Now, with an intercooler, it goes from the turbo, to the front of the engine, all the way across the front of the engine to the drivers side, wraps back and goes to the turbo. No lag time there at 6' huh?

Think of it like this. When you have the vehicle running, put a piece of paper across the exhaust pipe. Now, that gets hot almost instantly. Think of that distance being like 3' longer than the other. A properly sized turbo and exhaust housing will cure the lag for the heat build up and I have already explained the IC side.
