I with you there. That seems to be the sweet spot for many reasons.
The main one for me is that pre-1995 is not subject to emissions testing if/when they start doing it in my county.
I've spent thou$and$ on emissions/evap/computer crap over the years on modern vehicles. They're killing the working man with these regulations.
I'm done.
The regulations are only going to get worse. They keep tightening down the screws on us with the older none computer stuff. One way they will get us out of the old dependable stuff is make fuel so expensive we can`t afford to drive them....or create artificial shortages of fuel...they have never done that before....OH Wait!!!! remember the peanut farmer back in the 70`s with the first fuel shortages, and 55 MPH speed limits?
With the problems with the Chip shortages, that could affect the whole fleet of vehicles currently being driven today, not just the shortages with the huge fleet of new stock that is in storage with all manufactures.
Saw this video last night, interesting to read all the comments.

I`ll just keep driving the 86, and have the 85 IDI as a back up. Guy down the road wants to sell me his 88 or 89 4 x 4 with C6 trans, not in too bad of shape, says he has 3K into it, and new tires. Like I need one more to add to the other 14 I have. 7 are MB Diesels from the 80`s.
Soon as I get Mama`s 80 240D back on the road I will be in good graces with her. It is her Baby.....well mine too.
