Plumb that return line into a filter then back to box.....adds more volume...zurface area to act as cooling and cleans fluid.

If pump new dont mess around toss a filter on cant be that difficult now can it???? :rotflmao

You will hate doing it later and may not get a roundtuit to do it ...

Super duty electric vacuum pump. If it dies the worst that could happen is I loose my heater controls and cruise.

I'm going to look for a filter Al. Any recommendations or just any inline power steering filter? Ive seen a couple browsing around.

Yepper!!!!!!

They are a filter, and also have a magnetic component to them also... so they pull out metal along with contaminants.....

I just plumbed a cooler and that filter into my power steering setup.

One thing I learned is the hydroboost return only functions when depressing the brake pedal...hmmm..

So now my setup goes....from steering box to crossmember line....to filter....to cooler...to fitting on pwr str pump where the frame loop Used to connect too.

Hot oil filters better I figured.

It will get changed out in while...see if the clean TDH fluid works ok for pwr str fluid???? :dunno

I have this small cooler on the return line from hydroboost. It is behind the rectangular opening in the core support where the factory intake air supply was attached. Oops , large picture. Rt click on pic and select view image.

I am wondering...based on the observation I had yezterday...that return line is not constant flow it is intermittent flow when brake pedal was pressed

That being said maybe I have a fault in my setup.

May want to look into that because it may not be doing much if bypass is not constant flow.

I didn't know that, so maybe my setup isn't so good. I really don't use my brakes all that much, but it is good to have effective brakes when they are needed. I should shoot the lines in and out with an IR thermometer. I know the input line is pretty warm.

Sorry to be polluting hi jacking yer thread man but this is good info...

Ya shoot it with IR..but again if constant flow great but if intermittent its of no significant bennefit to plumb on hydro return.

I was initially going to plumb my cilter on hydro and cooler on steering return...but when I was attempting to evacuate old fluid by ONLY removing hydro line nothing came out ....unless I would press pedal....so I chose to filter and cooler on steering side of return.

One thing...I noticed fluid change and fpush solved an issue I had with my steering that felt like an over center tie rod or something binding...now it is smooth...

No worries guys. The whole point of this for me is to learn something and figure out what I'm going to do. There's tons of me rambling in here with drivel. Learning something is always an acceptable diversion.

@laserjock shock picture as promised. If your lower bracket is at and angle I think hitting it with a torch and lining it up would be best. The bushings on my shocks line up perfectly, bolt slides in easy peasy

I didn't mess with the front shocks tonight but I did pull the pitman arm off my box.

1 5/16 socket spun it right off.

I picked up the OTC puller that junk recommended. It's way stouter than the pos I had.

Fit real tight. I had to peck it on with a rubber hammer.

I came down on it with the impact but with no heat. No dice. Took a couple tries going a little warmer each time with propane torch on the pitman only and it finally popped right off. No way the little one I had would have done that.

After an hour of wire wheel love and another half can of brake clean, I hit it with some primer and called it a night.

I called inline tube again today. It had been a week since I had heard from them. Lines should be here tomorrow. Then I will post the final verdict once I get them fit.

Wow! That pitman arm was really on there! Box looks good. That puller does fit tight

Your experience with Inline tube has been total crap. Can't believe it's that bad. Mine was smooth sailing. Makes ya wonder if they changed management or ownership since I bought my lines.

Looking great as always!
