ididiesel.com cables are super nice. Overpriced, but they’re high quality and very large. Combined with new Motorcraft glow plugs, new Powermaster starter, and new batteries, I achieved instant starts in the cold. Worth it IMO
I bought the FTZ crimpers and they do a great job for the price. Military style terminals. Tinned HD Power lugs from marine supply and high quality adhesive lined heat shrink. I need to make a set of cables and grounds for my 1990 but will go with welding cable this time to help with keeping the bend radius tighter.

If you can afford to have the truck down for a day or so I always suggest finding a local rebuild shop. They’ll use quality bearings/bushings and brushes. Most of the time the price is less than half a new one and you’ll maintain the OE armature and field windings which is where the most cost is in an electric motor. If you have time for a weeks worth of shipping give a call to the alternator shop down in Bryan,Tx and ask if they have any of their special build starters they had made for these trucks. The details about the starter are in the link below but it’s called a 34MT and a few years ago it used to be only about $110+shipping. It produces more power than the powermaster and the ones we’ve bought haven’t been replaced yet.

Shop is BCS Alternator & Starter Services (979)775-9470 pretty sure they don’t have a website.
Back in the day we had two top shelf starter/alternator etc re-builders that did great quality rebuilds but with Amazon/eBay etc. they have since closed-up and vanished.

All great replies, thanks.
Due to 'time' and accessibility
I'll probably get the Napa Mitsubishi reman which I believe is what my OE is or, is it Prestolite?
And just mentioning, I have some 3/8 - 7/16 blue welding cable, maybe a little over kill but maybe it would make for good battery cable's???

That's certainly not a bad price on the Napa starter. I think you'd have to go a lot bigger than that welding cable to reach overkill for our battery cables. Ig you want to see underkill, check out the factory battery cables on a GM 6.2/6.5. Those don't look like they're much bigger than gasoline engine battery cables.

The Block Heater does not heat the Engine Oil,
Just the Coolant in the Block.

If you want to heat the Engine Oil, you need one
of those sticky Pads for the bottom of the Oil Pan.

They also make small magnetic heaters which are OK but you do have to crawl under to stick onto pan. Also work on metal fuel tanks if you are worried about gelling until the fuel that is returning to the tank gets warm enough to prevent that.

I've owned my truck since 'new'... I'm well aware what the block heater warms... I replaced it over twenty years ago.
And unfortunately, last time I plugged it in, it dripped coolant from the heater o-ring.

Fingers crossed, it goes in tomorrow.
I would have preferred the Promaster 9050 but with snow tomorrow I couldn't wait.
*same exact rebuild starter from Nappa 'BB'' $189.00 lifetime warranty.
I got this one (BBB/vision oe) from another parts house (my discount) $100 but a one year warranty.
One ground to the block was somewhat loose... I tightened ALL grounds and also at the fender relay.
