Nothing wrong with that pressure. Check it next time you change the oil. Differant oils maintain pressure differantly and they burn off at differant rates. Plenty of posts about differant oils burning off faster than what members usually run.

I switched to Motorcraft stroker oil red bottle and started using fl-1995 filter but if Alls goods then it's good thanks guys. I thought it meant the oil cooler was on its way to going out.

I'd expect 8-10 when hot at idle. No worries. 35-45 when cruising is normal for most folks.

Devon,

My '88 has all stock gauges, so it reads "N" at idle. And when I'm bombing down the highway it reads, come to think of it, "N".

Regards,

There's no set interval for that kind of thing but id say those orings should be changed if they are more than 10 yrs old.

When should an oil cooler get rebuilt? Miles=maintance?

There really isn't a reason to rebuild it unless something is actually wrong with it. The coolant side of the cooler will be in good shape as long as you maintain your cooling system. The oil side of the cooler is as clean as the rest of the oil circuit. Unless an O-ring starts leaking on the cooler, just leave it alone.

According to my oil gauge that someone else installed before i owned it, I idle at about 40 psi. Should I be concerned?
it seems to drive fine
