My truck loves me so much she won’t let me out!

94 idit. I just got in my metal door handles due to the broken plastic one on the drivers side i bought it this way. So I installed the new shiny metal one and shut myself in there I pulled the handle and it won’t let me out! It doesn’t feel like it’s coming all the way up. I pushed the lock down and tried to see if it would come up but nothing. Does anyone have advice on what I should look into? I guess I’ll be shuffling over the gear shifter and thru the passenger door until the weekend

The metal beneath the handle where it attaches has probably fatigued and bent. Happens over time. Or the cable has stretched. Or both. You can reinforce the attachment point, check out here:

You may have to replace the cable and associated hardware as they stretch and wear out their guides over time..
