Miss at idle

My 96 seems to be running on 7 cylinders at idle and when taking off but when I get the rpms up it seems to smooth out. It also smokes blue when idleling and a big puff if I rev it up but clears up when the rpms go up I figure I will have to narrow down which side the miss is on then pull the valve cover and see whats going on but what is your best guess as to the problem. Bad O-rings, injector, wiring harness, poppet screw

Dad's truck did exactally as you describe and had a lack of power. The problem was a bad injector. The sound also was less prevalent when running faster than idle.

yep thats kinda what I'm figuring but I was looking for anything I might not have thought of

Take a guess at a side, pull the valve cover and unplug the injectors one a time. When you unplug one that the motor does NOT stumble, that injector is not firing.
Simple thing to check would be to remove the Solenoid (4 Torx screws) and see if the armature plate is loose. This does happen, but is very rare. If that's not it, throw a feeler gauge under the armature and see where the gap is.
The problem could be any number of things, narrow it down to an injector and go from there.
