Larger tires on '03 Dually

Has anyone upsized their tires on a newer dually? I had read somewhere as to the maximum width you could use on the stock rims, but cannot remember what it is. If so, what size tire did you go with? Any help would be appreciated.

In my case it was 255x85x16
Technically I wasn't legal but I never had a problem either. DOT required at least one inch gap at the time. Laws change.

Might also want to check on the legality of using spacers.

I went to 235's but have ALCOA wheels.

roland, how much room did you have left between them with the 255s? I'm thinking about doing this if I can squeeze them. I test fit a set of 265/75s, was a no go.
