hello, my name is Brian and im addicted to IDI's

i originally got into these trucks for the sole fact that they arnt government regulated, even behind enemy lines.
also known as CA.
but, thats just one excuse to get one.
i started this journey about 10 years ago.

now i own a daily driver IDI, a toy IDI, ive got a sunday cruiser in IDI form, and parts and plans for having a IDI crawler.
but, i think i have an issue with these platforms.

cue in my work IDI.
just picked this 85 F350 single cab 6.9 T19 dumb bed.

gonna need to pick some folks brain on future mods. like snow plow and PTO conversions.
anyhow, im addicted, and im starting to see that it could become a real problem

ive got a turbo mod racking my brain, hydroboost, and a bunch of other stuff that throws me through a rabbit hole...
but
i need to just5 do the maintenance on it and leave it the F alone!
but, i have issues, and cant leave things alone.

Others here may have a very similar problem, such as myself…

I’m very sure I know much less than you do though.

Cute little thing...I see that someone put in a master disconnect switch and a decent fuel/water seperator...and you have the 'hi output' heater/defroster system...with a bypassed heater core...

I am a diesel convert...my '85 is my first diesel...I love it so much that I talk to it sweetly when no one is around to hear me....

Once I realized a few years ago that...if I did not have a vehicle with at least a one-ton rated rear axle I was just kidding myself...so...I cruised craigslist for a long time until I found one...with no worrisome computer stuff, either...and no AC stuff to ugly-up the engine compartment...

I want to 'see' my engine...

Nice score...cute little dump truck...

I just like my idi because its not a gasser. Always been a fan of diesel, that's why all our cars are diesel, except the samurai. And that's not a diesel... Yet.
i gotta have my gassers too.

I have addictive IDI problems as well. When my dad passed in my early 30's he left me an 84 F-250 T19 4x4 IDI with banks 1st gen turbo. It drove me all through Utah, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Redwoods, A bunch of CA beaches WITH a big ol Lance camper on her back and NEVER left me stranded. I loved them even more for the reason that CA didn't smog them. Ever since then i've been an addict. I had to sell that 84 but I eventually picked up this 87 and i'm going forward with all the goodies...

Hydraulics clean and crisp...
Aka no leaks and sharp valves.
Suspension, nothing is more fun than load shift in a turn.... AAAAND airbags are great when you're this guy...
Dat'sa D11T
Tie downs everywhere, especially 2 in the front inside of the bed to hoist/drag stuff in.
