I found this tonight and was curious what all it would involve to swap of the CHEVY stuff and replace it with an IDI engine and transmission.:dunno Would a person be able to make the axles work (maybe with some divorced transfer case unit), or would they have to be replaced also so that a front drive line could be installed for the 4x4? Kinda looking for different "projects" that I can make a "one-of-a-kind" truck to parade around. The other half thinks I crazy for thinking this way.cookoo I doubt buying this one is an option, but a know someone that has a truck like this just sitting in a field that he converted over to Chevy motor, transmission, and axles already too. His blew up and has just been sitting in the lower hay field for a few years. I just posted this one to give a somewhat better idea of what I'm looking at because I could most likely pick up the "junker" truck for a couple hundred and build it up from there.

with the right amount of time and money you can put anything in anything. I took a 87 Ford Mustang notchback and put a Buick Grand National motor in it. took another mustang and put a big block chevy in it. there is a guy in my area that has a old military dodge powerwagon with a 7.3 powerstroke in it! now that is a project i'd like to take on one day

I guess the question is, as long as the engine would fit, you could convert it. It won't be a bolt-in though. I wouldn't take on such a project unless you can weld.

I'm with you on the oddities. I have two (a 1949 and a 1950) of that body style, except my are F2's (3/4 ton). The only they the share with the F1's are the cab's.
