Tonight moved forward on my project that began when my first child was 4 weeks old. (She is now 13 haha).

This is a 3 way project:
Body
Transmission
Oil pan

My hangup was I didn't know where to start. Someone way smarter than I helped me make a flow chart and first step is remove transmission. I had already removed transfer case, both drive shafts, drained it.

Tonight I removed the access cover on top, removed the 4 top bolts. I also strapped a transmission jack to it. I still need to remove cross member and starter

Once transmission is out, I'll get the remaining body off frame and lift frame up. I almost hope all the bolts snap as I have a body lift going on since I know all mounts are trash.

Once body up and lifted I'll sandblast and treat frame, redo brake and fuel lines.

Also lift engine, replace rotted oil pan and other harder to reach seals. I "wasted" my bb Russ injectors on my black truck so I might swappy swap since I did get them for this truck.

Not sure if anyone had Sirius radio in the beginning but this was one of the "portable" devices you could also install in your car... That's how long this has been sitting

I'd babble on more but my daughter just announced her snake is loose from its cage

2004 called they want their cellphone back. ;Poke

Good job getting as far as you did. As a mechanic with a 4 year old, I understand the hurdles!

Danielle, I feel a bit better about my red truck project now. I think I started that six years ago? Guess I have another 7 before I have to resume.

It's an e4od!!

Also if I had not had like 20 tetanus shots over the course of my life, I would definitely have it now haha.

It is the kids' fault but not in a negative way. I enjoyed so much being so involved in their first 13 years. Now they're 11 and 13 and we are super close but they have their own lives beginning.

Now that that is out, I need to get the body mounts off. See you all in 10 years o_Oo_O

I'm thinking about retiring so I have time to finish something.
Things don't work that way. At least they haven't for me. I was able to accomplish much more, do so many more outside projects, while I was working full time . As soon as I retired I seemed to go into neutral and just coast. Sounds like the old maxim, "If you want something done, give it to a busy man."

Two daughters starting on their teenage years! I remember it well! My initial suggestion would be to stock up on tranquilizers. There will be times...

Seriously, though, I have full faith in what you're doing, will do, in raising your daughters. I believe you're well grounded in life, able to apply your experiences in steering their lives. Remember to choose your battles carefully.

Feel free to call me for discussions and commiseration. I can be that "disinterested party" support, and a virtual shoulder to cry on.

Now to climb down off my soapbox...
