I did the same job last September. On our farm we've come to realise that even the best packed fresh bearings sometimes have a manufacturing defect that grossly shortens their life. Glad it wasn't a catastrophe and just an inconvenience. Shall I keep my eyes open for a spindle?

thanks to Calvin, I found a source for them, but I appreciate the offer! gonna be buying them new. and this time im not gonna skimp lol

Spindles are hard to get sometimes. When I rebuilt my axle I got a pair from 4wheelparts fur around $100 each.

Please replace the spindle or... Clean it up. Metal spray it and grind to size... Even hard chroming it will pass.
