It appears that the proper size drain valve is out of stock - one EBay seller with a 92 positive rating does offer one - that's a red flag. Does anyone have a recent source?
At this stage the drain plug is the only leak I have and I'd be just as happy with a quality standard drain plug with quality sealing washers as a second choice - any sources for an old style plug that will seal tight?

I put an O'Reilly blue light special (Dorman, perhaps) in my truck about a year ago. Hasn't leaked a drop. My pan is even a bit wonky on the bottom due to a road debris strike at some point it it's life.

That Fumoto website claims a '93 7.3 takes a M14 - 1.25 plug thread. I had thought the '93 7.3 IDI took a M24 - 2.0 plug thread. Now I'm confused.
If it matters the plug that's in it now takes a 3/4" socket . AI says it takes a 15mm socket.

Well AI is wrong once again (big surprise right?). All I've ever seen for stock sized drain plugs was either 7/8" or 3/4". Just for clarification, that's referring to the size of the tool that's used to remove the drain plug. I also thought that the threads are all standard sized.

I just checked the plug on one of my engines. It's definitely 1/2-20 with a 3/4" hex head. If Fumoto is claiming metric anything, they're wrong.

It's the Fumoto F101. Fumoto and this outfit both appear to have them in stock?

Or just go to the parts store and spend a buck or two on a gasket. That's always been my choice, having that thing hanging down would worry me.

This is interesting, that supplier Old Goat mentioned has this for the T444. Wonder if that's what has Fumoto confused?

I've changed the oil about 90 times in this vehicle - always try for 3,000 miles. I'm on the 2nd drain plug now and it feels loose when I finger tighten the plug (up & down play before I tighten with a wrench). I had an assortment of oil drain plug gaskets hanging on the wall; copper, aluminum, plastic and rubber. None of them worked (shop vac on oil filler allows me to try different gaskets). The Fumoto looks like it has a wider sealing surface - wider than the drain plug sealing surface. If there's play in the tapped oil drain from all those changes, the Fumoto will most likely be a better fix - plus I won't be getting my hand black when I remove the plug. And if I booger up the threads on the pan it's a lot of work replacing the pan on 4WDs.
I ordered both sizes and will return the one that doesn't fit. I'll try to post what size - 1/2 x 20 or M14 x 1.25 fits.

It just depends on the supplier and source origin for the reproduction pans. For example, Liland and Spectra use M14x1.25. Dorman uses 1/2-20.

I changed the oil today - the 1/2" x 20 is the correct Fumoto for a '93 7.3 IDI.
