fuel pressure regulator spring?

my firend has a 1996 powerstroke, i have to put a new furel pressure regulator on it, but i dont remember taking a spring out like on my 02, just a plastic ball? is thers one?

yes there is a spring.on the drivers side of the filter housing is the FPR.2 10MM bolts hold it on.but on the side of the FPR you will see a brass nut.inside that nut is the spring and valve.i believe its a 19MM nut.

oh, ok so if u pull the regulater off, the spring wont be there, just the screen right? ok cus i couldnt remember taking a spring off, so i thought i lost it, but i never took the plug out

yup pull the 2 bolts holding it on and pull it away from the canister.just watch out that you dont loose the oring on the screen in the vally of death
