Not really. College for me, and dad building a house and shop, is in the way.

So, I've had another brainstorm (or possibly just an anuerism). I've got an '85 F-250 4x4, and have been promised a 329CID-6 out of a JD 6600 Combine. . .

Since you're a fan of the Deere, I say go for it! Or better yet, find an engine out of an A, now THAT would be different! Ha ha ha...

Just giving you a hard time. I think that if you can get that engine, do it. It's always cool to see a different breed of swap. I'm from a die hard IH farm, so I like my International engines, in fact I just picked up a 6.9 for a swap into an 88 F250. But that's just me.

And as much as I think Cummins are becoming over used in swaps, I know it's because they are also tough engines. But so is my IH. :)

Go for it, go JD!

I can't agree more that Cummins' are getting way over-used in swaps. They're a great engine, but I've just gotten so de-sensitized to cummins swaps, it ain't even funny. I can appreciate the craftsmanship, and work that goes into them, but a "novel idea" is only that for so long.

Exactly. It's almost sad that those swaps don't bring the excitement they used to. But lately I've been liking the odd swap, such as something JD, or this Perkins we have at home out of an old combine we scrapped out. I REALLY want to implant it into some truck.

I have the opportunity to buy the engine out of a JD 7700 combine. I don't know much more than that other than it has 3,000 hours. That means it could be either a 404 or a 466. Apparently it's turbo charged :D

Yeah, and the 404/466 was just the "Waterloo Small Block"! haha. the 531/619 was considered the "Big Block". The one I've been brainstorming about recently is the 329/359/414 Dubuque 6 cyl. A bit smaller, and easier to handle than a 404/466.
