I have to disagree with the "strictly for fitment" idea. In my opinion, there's just too much evidence that the Turbo engine was originally designed for much higher power levels than it came with from a dealership. The down pipe is one. Another is the anodized pistons with larger wrist pins. One more is that fact that the Factory Turbo itself came with a 2 1/2" exhaust elbow while the ATS 093 (which the Factory Turbo was based on) came with a 3" exhaust elbow plus a larger, not-smashed down pipe. The IP is more adjustable than one from a N/A engine (I believe ie. torque screw). I know that there's more example than these few, but my thinking is that all of this seems to be a waste of time and money for an engine that was rated at about 10-15 more HP than the N/A 7.3 was. If that's what it was designed for, than why all of the upgraded parts?
