I was wondering if anyone has gotten two group 65s on the same side of the truck. I would like to free up on of my battery trays for my air filter.

Thanks!

If you can fabricate a tray and battery cables I done see why but theres also those new lithium batteries that u only need one for a diesel truck now saw Stacy Davis use them and other auto shows do it

Depending on the climate, which starter you use and how up to ***** your timing and fuel system is, one basic battery could work also.

Im quoting this from another thread, but IDIabuse runs one batt

link to thread: http://www.oilburners.net/forums/showthread.php?66737-batteries-finally-died-Whats-the-good-stuff

@ $400 today $330 in 2005 when I bought it, I removed the OEM BATT cable chucked it.
Removed BATT trays under the hood.
Welded up a cage for the new Odyssey 80lb battery and mounted
it under the bed right side, directly behind the cab. used two 460 head bolts, perfect
length and diameter for the bed frame.
2awg welding cable one length about 6 feet straight to the starter.
Smaller gauge feeds the rest of the truck.
A large 2awg cable for the ground too.
I have two, one at the engine OEM location
and from the BATT to the frame again
close to the BATT location.
Less connections to fool with.
1150CA @ 0 Degrees F
1370CA @ 32 Degrees F
205 Reserve Capacity

It has been a real good BATT for me
best BATT I have ever owned, We all have
bought many!
This one I am happy I purchased, I still use it everyday.

He lives in florida, so take it for what its worth, New England and Florida are worlds apart

Im in rhode island, it gets way too cold for just one battery.

I started my 86 with the new DB starter a couple weeks ago, one battery at 24 degrees, no problem but I do understand the climate difference between you and I.
My 86 is a very quick starting truck, no matter how cold. Been lucky with that I guess, because my 89 is a little tougher to get going.

My 88 has two group 31's on the drivers side. made a plate that goes down tot he shock tower for a support. Also had to move the solenoid and what not in front of them to the core support
